These technologies are present in our lives, through smart phones, home networks, vehicles, and connected appliances. They are also present in our ecosystems and habitat, in cities, roads and large infrastructures by providing seamless connectivity to gather information, monitor and control their operation. Also, in industries, instrumented with new generations of wireless technologies, where their operative information is used to improve processes and reduce operation costs while increasing sustainability. Our primary interest is in helping industries, cities, infrastructure operators and people to benefit from Internet enabled objects and contribute to a more sustainable <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Internet of Things <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">by optimizing aspects of their operation and underlying technology.<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What we offer<\/span><\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1 \u00a0year postdoctoral position in the area of wireless communications.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Starting date &#8211; September 2017.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Participation and involvement in the research activities of the group.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Collaborative and very flexible working space with outstanding research infrastructure and labs.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Collaboration with other postdoctoral fellows and leadership of PhD students.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Where<\/span><\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We are located in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">WiNe is a research group of the Internet Interdisciplinary Institute and part of the Open University of Catalonia (UOC).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Areas of interest<\/span><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Embedded systems and communications. In particular:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Low power deterministic wireless networks for industrial automation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Low power wide area networks technologies and cellular M2M networks.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Protocol design and testing<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Convergence of backbone networks and capillary networks.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Requirements<\/span><\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PhD in telecommunications or computer science.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Python programming skills<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Deep knowledge of network protocols, technologies and architectures, specially in the wireless communication space.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Exceptional communication and technical writing skills. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Will be considered<\/span><\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Knowledge on embedded system programming.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Knowledge on LPWAN tecnhonologies<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Knowledge on backend\/front-end development and software platforms.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Please send your application to <\/span><a href=\"mailto:xvilajosana@uoc.edu\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">xvilajosana@uoc.edu<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
